Moon Child

These parents had recently visited the Marc Chagall museum and were excited to have a painting made for their baby girl in the style of his art. I spent several dreamlike hours studying (and enjoying) Chagall’s work, and applied his visual wisdom to their themes: born a Taurus, her name meaning ‘Moon’ in Bahasa Indonesia, I painted a little girl flying to the moon on the back of a celestial white bull.

It can take a while to get the colours and the paper type right. These pictures are from the proofing at the printer’s.
